Davidthian, born on 14 September 1977 in Parit Buntar, Perak, is a visionary Malaysian Chinese filmmaker and artist, currently based in Penang. With a diploma in Graphic Design and Advertising, his journey in the creative industry spans over 25 years, making him a multifaceted professional skilled in photography, graphic design, branding consultancy, filmmaking, and illustration. His expertise began with 2D animation and digital artistry, evolving into a dynamic career that now includes photography and filmmaking.As the founder of Monster Island Sdn Bhd and Davidthian.com, he has established himself as a key figure in Malaysia’s creative scene, producing and directing impactful visual stories. His passion for collecting figurines, toys, cameras, CDs, and books, alongside painting, reveals his deep-rooted love for the arts. His extensive international network includes collaborators from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, and Singapore, enriching his projects with a global perspective.Since 2019, Davidthian has produced more than 200 online short films, digital content, and commercial clips. His filmmaking accolades include directing and producing the Malaysian feature film “913 The Returning” (2016), released nationwide in 2017, and “Shun Pong O” (2017), a cross-cultural collaboration with Korean and Hong Kong talent. He also served as executive producer for notable films like Hong Kong’s “The White Girl” (2017) and Malaysia’s “Goodbye Mr. Loser” (2017). In 2024, Davidthian takes on a new challenge as the producer and director of “913 Kepulangan,” a Malaysian TV drama for RTM Malaysia.
